Mr. and Mrs. Bill & Maribeth Hanzlik

7322-GS-Hanzlik-Linda (103)

For the ever-positive and upbeat couple of Maribeth and Bill Hanzlik, supporting Catholic education and serving the Catholic Church is how they live their faith daily. For Maribeth, Catholic education has always been a way of life. Following her K-8 Catholic education, she graduated from Bennet Hill Academy High School in Colorado Springs and went on to the University of Notre Dame. There, she would meet Bill, a tall, tough athlete from Wisconsin who would become the love of her life. Maribeth went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in Pyschology and a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from St. Louis University.

She has been a cornerstone in the ongoing success of Seeds of Hope, serving at different times as Executive Director, Trustee and Volunteer and she is currently an active member of the organization’s Board of Directors. Outside of Seeds of Hope, Maribeth is active in parish life and served a stint overseeing the Catholic school-based Counseling Program for Catholic Charities.

Bill, a member of the Notre Dame Men’s Basketball team, would earn his degree in Mechanical Engineering after helping the Irish make it to the NCAA Final Four in 1978. After Bill’s successful NBA playing and coaching career that included stops in Seattle (where Bill was a first-round pick in the 1980 NBA Draft), Denver (where Bill helped the Denver Nuggets make the NBA Playoffs eight straight seasons), Charlotte and Atlanta, the Hanzlik's settled back in Denver.

As the CEO of the Gold Crown Foundation, Bill hosts an annual sports day for St. Rose of Lima Catholic Academy at the Gold Crown Field House. Bill was elected to the Colorado Sports Hall of Fame in 2003 and Secretary of the Army Dr. Mark Esper swore Bill in as Civilian Aide to the Secretary of the Army in May of 2019. Bill is also a longtime supporter of Seeds of Hope, helping emcee many Evening of Hope celebrations and securing countless cool auction items for Seeds’ events.

The Hanzlik's have four grown children, all of whom were K-12 Catholic educated and earned college degrees. The Hanzlik's also have nine grandchildren.
